Switchboard Assessed Before Every Install

Kenny checks available switchboard capacity before quoting. If the board needs upgrading to support the new circuit, you'll know before any work starts — not after.

Dedicated 32A Circuit — Not a 10A Outlet

Every Ironox EV charger install uses a dedicated 32A circuit. Sharing a circuit with other loads or using a standard power point is a safety risk and limits charge speed significantly.

Certificate of Electrical Safety — Every Install

Every EV charger installation includes a Certificate of Electrical Safety issued on the day. Required by most EV manufacturers for warranty purposes and by insurers.

Common Questions

EV Charging‍Questions Answered.

Can I just use a standard power point to charge my EV?

You can, but it's not recommended for daily use. A standard 10A outlet charges most EVs at around 2.4kW — a full charge from empty can take 30 hours or more. A dedicated 32A circuit with a Wall Connector charges at up to 7.4kW, cutting that time to around 8 hours. It also removes the risk of overloading a shared circuit.

Do I need to upgrade my switchboard first?

Not always. Kenny assesses the existing switchboard before quoting to confirm available capacity. Most modern switchboards can accommodate a new 32A circuit without an upgrade. If an upgrade is needed, you'll know upfront and can decide whether to proceed.

Can the cable run be hidden inside the wall?

In most cases, yes. Kenny runs the cable through the ceiling cavity and down the internal wall face where accessible — no exposed surface conduit on the garage wall. If the property layout doesn't allow concealment, Kenny will explain what's possible before work begins.

Does the install work with all EV makes?

Yes. A dedicated 32A circuit with a Type 2 outlet is compatible with all EVs sold in Australia. Brand-specific chargers like Tesla Wall Connectors and Evnex units are also available and compatible with their respective vehicles.
